Michigan Poker News

The poker room at the new Turtle Creek

The well anticipated opening is here and gone.  The room has been open since 6-17-08 with plenty of action so far.   The stated hours of operation our 10am till 6am daily.   So far they have held 2 tournaments and both have filled up.   Starting July 2nd they will be holding tournaments daily.   I will get them all listed sometime soon.   There is plenty of room for improvement, however there are some good things too.
                           Below I will give the pro's & con's.

Pro's

Nice room separated from main casino.
Comfortable chairs
Our own cashier
Friendly staff & dealers
9 handed tables allow for fast action
Room is open almost 24 hours a day
Daily tournaments should help bring in plenty of action

Con's

No system in place to let players know that their seat is ready.
Not enough dealers, bad scheduling of dealers.   Twice now on Friday night, not enough dealers.....more people on the waiting list then playing. Dealers need to be scheduled earlier.
Not all the dealers are trained well but on that note most are learning fast.
Staff is poorly informed on what's going on.
The bottom line is that there are a lot players coming to play making the action very good.  It is well worth the trip to come play poker at Turtle Creek, though I would call ahead and get on the list.  231-534-8937
If management gets its act together and fix's the problem before we lose players it will be the best poker room in Northern Michigan.    Hopefully management reads this.   I am triing to think positive.
